Usage
- Paste the text and decide whether leading spaces and blank lines are meaningful.
- Use the metric required by the destination: characters, UTF-8 bytes, words, or lines.
- Before publishing, confirm how the destination counts emoji, combined characters, and line breaks.
Limits
- Platforms can define word boundaries, emoji, and combined characters differently.
- Windows and Unix line endings use different raw byte counts.
- Invisible spaces and trailing line breaks affect totals.
Example
- Output
Characters, words, and UTF-8 bytes are counted separately
Chinese characters normally use multiple UTF-8 bytes, so character and byte counts differ.
