Hash Calculator
Calculate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of text.
Usage, example, and limits
Usage
- Enter the original text and treat it as UTF-8.
- Choose exactly the same algorithm used by the other system.
- When comparing hexadecimal output, check case, line endings, and invisible whitespace.
Limits
- MD5 and SHA-1 are unsuitable when an attacker can create collisions.
- Fast general hashes should not store passwords; use a password hashing algorithm with a random salt.
- Both sides must hash identical bytes, not merely text that looks identical.
Example
- Input
hello (SHA-256)- Output
2cf24dba5fb0a30e26e83b2ac5b9e29e1b161e5c1fa7425e73043362938b9824
Adding even one line break produces a different digest.
